Our first workshop with photoshop tuition included as I've often been asked whether it's something I would do so here it is!
Sunday 15th April - 10am- 4.30pm - In Farnborough, Hampshire.
Run from our home which we've created as a more "lifestyle" studio space with different set ups.
I will demonstrate three set ups which you will all get to photograph as well. You will get a booklet to take away with information and lighting diagrams as a reminder.
We keep the group small up to 8 people. Our aim is that you can walk away with the knowledge to recreate the set ups and be comfortable using your speedlights rather than this being just a "portfolio builder." Although you will of course get some lovely images as well!
How It Works
10:00- 2:00- Photoshoot:
Learning how to make off camera flash look natural using three different set ups including balancing daylight/ ambient light with flash.
2:00- 2:30- Lunch
2:30- 4:30- Photoshop tuition
Running through of my workflow from start to finish, this will cover colour work, dodging/ burning and what I'd recommend for basic skin retouching. I will be demonstrating on images from the day, so you can work on yours at the same time. (Bring your laptops!)
Set Ups
1st - Bedroom setup balancing flash with daylight/ ambient light with lamp light in the background. I will show you how control ambient light independently of flash so that you have easy control over the style and mood you want to portray in any situation.
2nd - Bedroom setup with white netting canopy. This is a simple setup so you can get into creating some of your own shots, get comfortable with working with the lights and get some lovely images for your portfolio.
3rd - This set up is aimed at showing you how flash can give you the flexibility to mimic other sourses of light, like sunlight to add interest to an image, set the tone, and give some context for time of day etc.
What You Need
- The basics of how to use your camera in manual mode. To know how to change your aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
- Preferably a laptop to bring with you for the photoshop tuition. Bonus points if you have a Wacom tablet or similar but this is not a necessity.
- A basic knowledge of layer masks and adjustment layers within Photoshop. Using layer masks is fundamental to my workflow.
- Bring your own speedlights if you have them so you can be familiar with working with your own equipment. Alternatively if it's something you're looking to invest in you don't need bring your own, this is the opportunity to give it a go and get some tips on what gear to get.
We look forward to seeing you there!
