It was a rather dull and grey morning but we had some time before Jade went off to work so we decided to do a shoot, I rarely shoot in the house as, like many others, I take it for granted and don't think of it as much of an interesting location to shoot in. This with the less than appealing light through the window made it quite a challenge!
I've been enjoying strong bold colours lately as I've been playing with colour grading more and more. So we opted for a red body suit and I got out the speedlights.
Using 2 speedlights and sometimes a reflector, I used one speedlight with a couple light orange gels on it without a modifier to simulate sunlight coming through a window. This was particularly effective on the stairs, where there isn't even actually a window for any light to come in! The other flash was in a small softbox suspended above Jade.
Thank-you to my lovely girlfriend Jade Lyon for modelling for me. Spoilt having a model in the house!
