Centred around building narrative into portraiture, I will take you through developing a story within your portraiture, using lighting tricks and model direction, use of props and show you how to disguise light sources and locations. Devon Evening Sessions - Groups and 1-2-1's
Group Shoot on Sunday 27th August 6:00- 9:00pm
We will spend 2 hours shooting on location around Dartmouth. Starting with natural light at a beautiful beach behind Dartmouth Castle with bridges and steps going down and across the beach. Jade is crazy enough to get in the water as well for some nice sea shots!
We will then make our way back into the town where we can find some interesting spaces with lots of character.
One will be a lovely cobbled alley way where we will introduce the use of flash as well.
For the last 45 minutes, using your photos from the session, Raj will go through some photoshop editing so bring along your laptops as well. In case you don't have one you can use Raj's and send the photos to yourself or save onto a USB.
You can book us for 1-2-1 training sessions for £50 per hour. As this is a 1-2-1 this can be tailored specifically to you! Let us know what you need some help with or do you just need some more experience with photographing a model?

Vintage Fashion Editorial - Flash Photography Workshop - Natural Light Studio
We are taking our workshops up to Northamptonshire! For the first time we will be doing a workshop north of London, in the beautiful new venue; The Natural Light Studio.
PLEASE NOTE: Bookings are secured on payment. Minimum 3 bookings needed for the workshop to go ahead. If you do book you will be notified either way by Sunday 11th June.
An example of the vintage styling we will be using for Jade on the day.
It's going to be a vintage themed fashion and editorial workshop. I will be showing how to make the best of the environment around you by using both the available light and flash lighting to create a scene. The skills you'll learn will allow you to adapt to any condition and use flash in a way that does not look obviously flash lit. The objective will be to make images that look like only natural light was used using techniques like High Speed Sync and utilising the principles of inverse square law.
We will be starting in the studio at 11 am and going through some principles of balancing daylight and ambient. Using simple props to transform a room into an engaging and dynamic scene with my cinematic lighting styles.
Next will be the elevator: The venue has an amazing old elevator and here we will go through using flash, gels and white balance to imitate a sun set lit indoor scene.
And as a unique bonus, this venue has a vintage fire engine that we will be lighting for a larger scene. Something epic for your portfolios!
Throughout the day, Jade Lyon will be on hand offering tips and pointers with both the lighting, composition and model direction.
I will be building the scenes light by light/reflector so that you will be able to replicate the style afterwards.
All workshops include some written materials outlining the concepts that we will be covering, with a few example images and the lighting diagram and settings to go with it, so that you have something to refer to afterwards. As well as a model pose guide/ cheat sheet to allow you to get some great shots from the start of any shoot so you and the model can feel more confident.

An exciting new workshop in a brilliant location. The Towerbridge Penthouse. This workshop will be centered around the use of speedlights balanced with daylight and ambient light to create cinematic images.

This workshop is suitable to anyone wanting to get into off camera flash regardless of your genre of photography, be it weddings, fashion or narrative.

Our speedlight workshop is set in the wonderful Caribou Rooms in the centre of Hove, just a short walk from the seafront. We will start in the characterful basement bar area. This is cut off from the natural light from outside so makes a great place to see the affects of just the speedlights and mimics the conditions many wedding photographers face through the event.
